Debbie

Meet the new owners!

Mill Girl Quilts has new owners! Sisters, Debbie Janes and Cricket Lomicka, have teamed up to bring you “Mill Girls Quilts Inc.”.

Debbie Janes has been quilting for over 30 years. In the words of her daughter “We grew up with this!”. Debbie will bring those years of experience to you in the shop. Debbie, an experienced quilt teacher, has taken the step of becoming a shop owner after years in the corporate world at financial and insurance industries, and as a letter carrier for the postal service.

Cricket Cricket Lomicka is an art major whose medium was fabric. With a journeyman rating in the Boston Weaver's Guild, she knows fabric well. Cricket spent many years as a professional weaver, but a number of years ago her passion changed to quilting, and most recently as a long arm machine quilter. Along with her traditional quilting, Cricket has been learning new ways to work with fabric. In the last year she has learned Phil Beaver's technique and has been painting fabric with Tsukineko inks. Cricket's husband Jeffrey is also a quilter, taking the red ribbon in the Men's category at the 2005 MQX.

Horace Debbie, Cricket, and Jeff have been very busy preparing for the shop opening on June 12th. Lots of new fabrics and notions have been ordered, and some have arrived. Shown here is the mascot of the Children's fabrics, Horace, guarding his hoard of new fabrics.

Grand Opening Celebration July 11-15, 2006

Although the store opens June 12, many of the new fabrics and notions aren't all here yet. Therefore, the official grand opening celebration will be next month, to give us time to stock the shelves with lots of new goodies that we hope you will like. The celebration begins Tuesday, July 11th, with door prizes, drawings, goodies to eat. Come and make fabric postcards with us!
