The MQX 2007 DVD Photo Browser Features

← Back to Mill Girl Quilts MQX photo page

The high resolution photos are accessed by using your computer's web browser. To get to these images, you need to open the "START HERE.html" file from inside the folder called "MQX 2007 DVD-ROM Contents", as shown below:

Start Here file location

Note that some computers will repeatedly try to open the DVD player software when attempting to open this disc. If this is the case, use RIGHT-CLICK on the "MQX_2007 (D:)" entry of your "My Computer", and select "Open". The DVD player software will only display the low resolution DVD video images, and will not give you access to the high resolution images and special features of the image browser.

Numbered guide to browser features
  1. At the top of the left frame, there is a menu that takes you to other views. From here you can choose the ordering of the images to view, or go back to the top page.
  2. The left frame contains a thumbnail image of each photo, in the current view order, to jump to a specific image. There may be several pages here.
  3. Above the main photo is the title of the quilt, the entrant's name, the size of the quilt in inches, and a lists of awards this entry received at MQX 2007.
  4. The main photo in "web" size, suitable for viewing on the computer screen. If you click on this image, another window will open with the high-resolution image for close-up examination. See Below.
  5. Beneath the main photo is the catalog number from the show program, the type of machine used, the quilter's name, and the description provided by the entrant. Also listed here is that name of the teacher that awarded any teacher's ribbon, and the name of the founder if the entry received a founder's award.
  6. The link "start show" will start slide show mode with the next photo. In this mode, next photo is opened automatically every few seconds. Clicking on any link will stop the slide show. If you click on the main photo, you will stop the slide show, and a second click will be required to open a new window with the high resolution photo.
  7. Thumbnail images and links allow navigation to the next and previous photos in the slide show. These usually appear to the right of the main photo (as shown), but if your browser window is too narrow, they will appear below the main photo, before the catalog number.
  8. Most entries have at least two photos, and thumbnail images and links to alternate views are listed here. Most quilts have a close-up view. Garments usually have front, back, and close-up views, and in some cases a quilt will have more than one close-up and/or a view of the back. As with the "next" and "previous" links, these will be positioned below the main image if the window is too narrow to fit them to the right of the image.
Extereme close-up view

The photo above shows the extreme close-up view. When using Microsoft WIndows Explorer®, the extreme close-up button will appear if you allow the mouse to hover over the image for a moment. This button toggles between a full view of the photo, and the extreme close-up view.

The example image used here is "Life In Maui", entered by Mary Kay Price and recipient of the MQX 2007 Photographer's Award
